LCF began in the 1990’s as an informal fellowship of expatriate Christians living and working in Lagos, Nigeria. The initial impetus was to be a house fellowship style church serving evangelical expatriate believers desiring to continue in Christian fellowship and worship to God while resident in Lagos. Thereafter, LCF evolved from the house fellowship format to meeting on Sunday afternoons and then on Sunday mornings. In 2001, LCF adopted a mission statement; in 2004, established the Biblical model of church organization to include elders, deacons and deaconesses. Today the church is formally registered with the Nigerian government and is open to all Christians, most especially expatriates and diaspora Nigerians returning to settle back home.
